In this episode, Mary O'Brien Tyrrell will describe the satisfactions and challenges of a new type of business: helping older clients capture their life stories in published memoirs that become cherished family heirlooms. Based on the author's long firsthand experience working with elders as a memoirist and gerontological nurse, Tyrrell will offer a wealth of interesting stories and invaluable advice on working with elders, conducting interviews, composing memoirs, and creating and maintaining a successful memoir business with minimal financial investment.

About Mary O'Brien Tyrrell:
With the goal of designing a progressive model to honor elders, in 1994, Mary O'Brien Tyrrell founded Memoirs, Inc. and has assisted hundreds of older individuals in publishing a life story in limited-edition hardcover books that are distributed at a family book-signing party. The company has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, VFW Magazine, and Kiplinger's Retirement Report.
Mary has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Public Health in Community Health Information. A Vietnam veteran, since then, she has specialized in gerontology. She is past president of the International Institute for Reminiscence and Life Review and provides a 4-day continuing education intensive training as a memoirist/personal historian at Bridgewater State University Cape Cod.
