Today (09/14) we had a conversation with Antonio Azpiri the bass/baritone Principal Vocal Artist at Heartland Sings and a lover of trips and books.
"Antonio Azpiri is a Mexican Bass Baritone, he has sung “Leporello” in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni,” first with Universidad Pan Americana at Teatro de las Artes in Mexico City, with West Bay Opera at Palo Alto, California, and most recently in Alexandria, Egypt with Bibliotheca Alexandria Opera. He has performed in Mexico City’s National Opera as Don Fernando in Beethoven’s “Fidelio,” Sid in Puccini's “La Fanciulla del West” and Antonio in Mozart's “Le Nozze di Figaro.” In 2021 Antonio made his international debut as Fra Melitone in Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino” with the company Operafabriken in Malmö, Sweden, and also that same year, he sung “Figaro” in Mozart’s “Le nozze” with ISOFOM (International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia). He has performed as Basilio in Rossini's “Il Barbiere di Siviglia,” Bartolo in Mozart's “Le Nozze,” and Betto in Puccini's “Gianni Schicchi” with different companies in Mexico. As a conductor, Antonio made his debut on June of 2022 with the premiere in Mexico of Iain Bell’s “Stonewall” opera." (Azpiri, A., 2023)
