Dark patterns: The ethical dilemma for all UX Designers!
Manage episode 380098459 series 3521443
This episode would've been much better aired on Halloween as we're exploring the dark world of dark patterns! Put simply, a dark pattern is a user interface that has been carefully crafted to trick users into doing things, such as getting more of your data without you knowing or misleading you into purchasing a certain product or insurance. Dark patterns exploit human psychology to act against users' best interest, and as UX Designers it's usually up to us to help companies implement these tactics. If a company offered you the right price (or salary!?) would you succumb to creating dark patterns? What even is a dark pattern? Are these even ethical? We ponder these questions and more in this month's ethical design dilemma episode!
