Our first story takes us back to 1803 when the United States made a historic leap in expanding its territory. On this day, President Thomas Jefferson's administration successfully negotiated the Louisiana Purchase with France. This groundbreaking agreement secured an enormous tract of land, approximately 828,000 square miles, doubling the young nation's size. The Louisiana Purchase not only provided vast resources but also paved the way for westward expansion, shaping the course of American history forever.
