This week, tune in to hear two local music teachers talk. J interviews Maastricht musicienne Maxime and they talk about creative process, changing lineups, and breathing techniques. 🌸 *please forgive the audio issues in this episode* Maxime Cathalina is a Dutch R&B songstress and songwriter. She was born and raised in the picturesque city of Maastricht to a Caribbean father and Dutch mother. Music was her first love: she already sang before she learned how to speak. Exposure to artists such as India.Arie, Sade, Musiq Soulchild and Craig David led her to write her first songs at ten years old. For over a decade, she’s been the female half of alternative R&B duo Maxime x Glyn. Now, a new era has started for her as a solo artist. Conveying narratives about life’s most pertinent lessons, such as (self-)love, loss, desire, vulnerability and spiritual empowerment, she writes heartfelt and relatable stories. With warm, soothing vocals, Maxime Cathalina sings soulful, mellifluous melodies rooted in her authentic self – a journey that has only just begun.
