Hello, and welcome to another episode of the 'Market YOU First' Podcast. I'm your host, Wes Wyatt, and today we're diving deep into the core philosophy that drives this show: Market YOU First! You've heard me say, 'I coach clients to sell themselves, NOT what they sell.' Today, we're going to unpack what that means.
Alright, so why 'Market YOU First?' Let's get into it. Today, people are absolutely inundated with products, services, and advertisements. You've got a split second to catch someone's attention. So, how do you make your pitch memorable? Simple. You start with the most unique feature of your offering: YOU. That's right, nobody else can be you, and that's your ultimate edge in the marketplace.
Authenticity is currency. I recently had the opportunity to fly out to Sacramento and meet up with Living Legend and the author of the book series, 'The Closers' - Ben Gay III (Connect and ENGAGE with him on LinkedIn!). During our conversations - I discovered he'd coined a phrase I and thousands of other salespeople and marketers have been saying for years. "People do business with those they know, like, and trust." When people believe in you, they naturally become interested in what you're selling. I'm not saying the product or service doesn't matter; it does. But the point is people are more likely to trust a brand or buy a product when they feel connected to the person behind it. Your personality, your values, your story—these are not just icing on the cake; they're integral ingredients that make the cake worth eating.
So, the key takeaway is that before you go about marketing your products, services, or whatever else, invest time in marketing YOU. Your audience needs to know who you are, what you stand for, and why you do what you do. And that's what this podcast series is all about. We will explore different strategies, hear from experts, and get into the nitty-gritty of how to effectively 'Market YOU First.'
Thanks for tuning in to this introductory episode. Trust me, you will want to see what we've lined up for you in the coming weeks. Until next time - remember the best brand you can offer to the world is yourself, and have a DYNAMITE 🧨 day!
