Welcome to the fifth episode of our special series, co-hosted by Melanie Staunton of Communicate! In this episode, we have the pleasure of welcoming the incredible Jacqueline Surin to the SIXCOMMS Podcast. We'll be exploring Strategies for Difficult Conversations.

About Our Guest: Jacqueline Surin

Jacqueline is an accredited Clean Language Facilitator and Systemic Modeller. Using these methods, she fosters curiosity, compassion, and group intelligence, helping individuals and teams navigate challenges for better conversations and outcomes. She works internationally with corporations and civil society organisations. She is a specialist-partner of the Singapore-based consultancy BeInClarity and an associate of Training Attention and Clean Learning in the UK, and was a partner at the UK-based Better Conversations Foundation.

In this episode these questions will be answered:

  • How do you define a difficult question?
  • Could you share a difficult conversation you’ve had recently and how you dealt with that?
  • Could you explain what Clean Language is?
  • What one technique do you think is most effective when having difficult conversations?

This episode doesn’t just talk about the theory, it’s jam-packed with our real-life examples of difficult conversations we’ve had. Jacqueline offers so many useful tools and insight into how we can approach these conversations differently so that the interactions are more positive and constructive. We’re sure you will relate to our examples and will leave with some useful tools to experiment with the next time you have a high stakes conversation.

We would love to hear if you try out any of the approaches Jacqueline shares and what impact these have on your difficult conversations.

Thank you for tuning in to this special episode, and let’s get ready to explore the strategies for difficult conversations, with Jacqueline Surin!
