Playoff football is finally upon us! The win or go home mentality is one that some teams embrace and thrive in, while others fail to rise to the occasion.

On this episode, Kenny and Daniel discuss their playoff experiences, why some teams are so good when everything is on the line, and how to become a better playoff coach.


What has been your experience in the playoffs in previous years?

  • 2009 - first experience - drew #2 in the state
  • 2016 - first time for the school in history, knocked off winningest team
  • 2023 - now - first time in 5A


Why are some teams so successful in the playoffs, and others struggle?

  • plan to play long game
  • teams improve throughout season
  • health of the team
  • handle the big moments better


How can I get better in the playoffs as a coach?

  • Continue to find ways to improve
  • Know how to handle a ton of information - delegate
  • Stay calm and enjoy the moment


What NOT to do as a Coach

  • Today’s Lesson: “Don’t think some passionate pre-game speech is going to win you the game.”
