The harvests have come in, the cold breath escapes. Stay warm on your path traveler. Leaves change from green to reds, browns, and yellows. Sarahs reminder to stay gold. A cycle is coming to an end as the world retreats from life towards rest, the death of countless microbial communities lights the painting of the natural world in one last blast of color. A final reminder for our natural rhythm its time to slow that beat down the symphony reaches a natural rest in the song. Innate cyclic desires to restore and find one’s rejuvenation, you have survived long enough sense the harsh dark of last winter, through the pastoral rebirth, and the adventure of the campaign, and the celebration of those few moments where we get to live. This world has been built by those who come before, whose suffering through those dark night and dog days is a tireless effort to escape the cyclic existence of suffering. This world has not been inherited with equity. It has been built off the continued exploitation of other suffering. Suffering does not have to be an innate inheritance of life; it is built into the inherited world though. As individual agents we are dwarfed by goliath these systems of power have far greater reach than you or I, so what is there to do? Grow, and not in that cheesy self-help way, but for the simple reason no one, not you or I, deserve to suffer. That is a basic sentient need. The hard part of all of this is that the growth that we all need to do is not something we are going to get from a church or temple, not by going into the wilderness or as policy from our government, you can’t sign up for it in some organization and it’s not something I can give you. You get that growth my looking within. Stopping, pausing when agitated from life’s conditions. Taking the time to feel and process the emotions, especially the hard ones, the choosing to respond with compassion and kindness for both you and others. Sustainability is not just green science and applying geothermal energy to the grid. It is taking the time to cultivate empathy as a learned skill and applying it to all actions. There are no gods and there are no masters left in the garden, cultivate your own tree while sustaining our forest. Music : BAMF
