In this panel edition of the 805UNCENSORED, Heather and I wanted to make an effort to include some more diverse voices, including Palestinian into the conversation about the ongoing genocide taking place in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank.

Panelists included Camila, Muna AKA Watermelon Brigades, Alshawasuhail, and Sophie AKA Philo.Slothy.y

Guest bio's

Muna AKA Watermelon Brigades (She/Her):

My name is Muna and I live in Arizona but from Virginia. I was a union organizer for a longtime and a community organizer before and since, mostly around anti-racism, anti-fascism and anti-imperialism. I’ve always been a queer Palestinian. My father was born in Jaffa Palestine in 1948.

I recorded the watermelon brigades podcast a few years ago with my Pali friend Jamz and resurrected the page about a month ago.

Camila (She/Her):

Camila Cuevas, originally from Chile and now based in Florida, is a passionate advocate for social change. She began her journey in the United States at 15 and later earned a degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida (UCF). In her early career, she worked as a probation officer and as a domestic violence and sexual violence advocate. However, disillusioned with government systems, she transitioned into a part-time role as an independent activist and content creator. Camila passionately advocates for meaningful change and social causes close to her heart while homeschooling her children and making a positive impact in her community and beyond.

Sophie (She/Her):

Sophie is a multicultural activist, English as a Foreign Language teacher, and board member of Manita Alliance. She obtained her bachelor's in Philosophy from KU Leuven University in Belgium, specializing in the Philosophy of Immigration. While she has dual citizenship for the United States and Pakistan, she sees herself as a global citizen.

Coming from both a settler and extraction colony, Sophie is deeply committed to the decolonization project. Her ultimate dream is to one day see humanity liberated from the chains that divide us as a species.

Suehail Al-Shawa (He/Him):

Palestinian diaspora member, member of the Hashemite Clan, with a strong background in Middle Eastern history and colonialism. Portland State Graduate W/ direct and familial ties to Gaza in particular.
