In my time as President of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists and since, I have met a few doctors who have had dealings with Ahpra, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. My general impression is that it is not a pleasant experience. I have also heard many doctors complain about the 14% increase in registration fees this year.

In this episode, I chat with Nick Elmitt, Policy Manager at the Australian Medical Association (AMA). He shares his insights from the work that the AMA does with Ahpra in raising issues such as how long they take to handle complaints, vexatious notifications and more.

If you do receive a notification from Ahpra, contact your MDO. Feel free to also contact the ASA and the AMA. For the best advice and support, you do need to be a member. Find out more about membership here:
