Kathleen, aka Kit, will tell you she was infantilized by her parents from time her family entered the IBLP world until she was in her early 20's. In the patriarchal, abusive, and oppressive world of IBLP, going to a Southern Baptist Convention college was a breath of fresh...er air. Freshness being relative in this metaphor, Kit, found freedom in SBC college and even got up the courage to finally break free of her bizarrely overprotective parents who really just wanted to keep her as a little girl until she could be handed off to a husband. Through health scares and personal growth, Kit finally deconstructed her faith and, spoiler, found an abundant life on the outside.
