Manage episode 387834942 series 3527969
Fight of the evening: Tuscany vs. USA. Where the hell do you look for the meaning of life? In the left corner, the competitor Montegiovi: population 200, located in a picturesque Tuscan valley, superpower: tagliata and peposo. In the right corner we see Baltimore in the hurricane-experienced state of Maryland, made famous by the TV series The Wire, superpower: heavy industry and historic "nest of pirates." The two fighters will battle today for quality and meaning of life on behalf of Italy and the US. Chief judge: Joe Giordano. Internationally renowned painter, one of the most outstanding and famous contemporary American painters. He has Italian roots and for the past dozen years has spent summers in Tuscany where he is co-founder of La Baldi Residance. I invite you to a wonderful and deep conversation about the condition of the modern world, the understanding of art, what painting is and why it is more than a pleasure for snobs in art galleries. The whole conversation is set in the context of two worlds: The US and Italy, where Joe lives and between which he moves.
