A slightly personal episode and a slight deviation from our normal discussions but I figured this topic warranted a discussion based on conversations I’ve had with a lot of female friends. Dating is not a level playing field. I know people want to believe that in 2023/2024 things between men and women are equal. They absolutely are not. Let’s deal in the reality that we are actually in, not in the world we want this to be. The cards are stacked against women and thus women need to move in dating and in relationships consciously, intentionally, rationally and with more caution. Some of what I say in this episode is a challenge to a prevailing narrative; a challenge to the Bill of Goods we as women have been sold and that many women are challenging privately. I think it’s time for us to start having these discussions more publicly. The primary audience for this episode is my wonderful daughter. I hope she finds it somewhat helpful as she navigates adulthood. It is my desire to be there to guide her through it, but if for some reason the Fates see otherwise, I leave this for her as a dating guide. If youre a listener who considers me a sister, friend or mother figure, this episode is also for you. I suspect men could do with giving this a listen as well. Youroneblackfriend.com
