In the season finale of Switchblade Sisters Social Club, we look at the perplexing case of Natalia Grace.
The Natalia Grace case is a real head-scratcher wrapped in a mystery and served with a side of "you can't make this stuff up." Picture this: a couple adopts what they think is a sweet, innocent 6-year-old girl from Ukraine. Plot twist: things start to get a bit "The Orphan" movie-esque.
Natalia, the supposed child, turns out to be more 'Benjamin Button' than 'Annie'. The parents begin to suspect she's not the youngster she claims to be. Why? Oh, just little things, like her having a full set of pubic hair and a vocabulary richer than Shakespeare.
The plot thickens as Natalia starts doing things that would make the average 6-year-old blush. Like, allegedly trying to shove her adoptive mom into an electric fence (not your typical game of tag). This leads to what might be Randa’s quote of the season - "You either throw someone into an electric fence or you don’t." New merch idea? I think sooooooo!
So what’s up with Natalia? Surely you can tell if someone is 6 or 22? Is she a child? Is she an adult posing as a child? We may never know.
And true to their cultural roots, we masterfully execute the podcast equivalent of an Arab Goodbye. Neither of us want to say goodbye to the season, so we stand in the audio hallway for ages remembering things we have to say before we go.
