Cooby, a Taipei-based startup founded in late 2020, created a CRM application that combines data from LINE and Gmail into WhatsApp. Taiwanese people were less familiar with WhatsApp than they were with LINE, but it has more potential and could bring in more money. The Cooby team chose to focus on WhatsApp in order to achieve the larger objective. The benefits that follow are not only substantial—there are 2 billion active users each month—but they also draw the interest of global venture capital.
