Eps. 13 Healing with Our Whole Self:the Benefits of Meditative and Somatic practices (with Rain Elizabeth Stickney)
Manage episode 404462010 series 3555796
In this week’s episode Kristen sits down with meditation instructor, healer, and spiritual counselor Rain Elizabeth Stickney to discuss the many ways we can heal ourselves in body, mind, heart, and spirit. Rain is also the host of the Every Moment is Sacred Podcast. Rain comes with over 20 years experience in healing and sharing how we can use our own selves as a vehicle for healing, growth, and expansion.
Key takeaways of Kristen’s conversation with Rain are:
- The 4 pillars of wholeness: body, mind, heart, and spirit: How we experience all these pieces of ourselves in different and unique ways
- Somatic Healing: Unity of body and mind rather than duality of body and mind. How to embody who we are, take our own strength to new experiences, and go beyond challenges.
- Importance of Conscious Space and Presencing: How to ground ourselves in the real and safe when encountering difficult feelings and emotions
- The Benefits of a Meditative Practice: how to begin a meditative practice that will change your life in as simple as 1 minute a day
About Rain:
Rain Elizabeth Stickney is a spiritual counselor and meditation teacher in private practice who formally began offering meditation in the spring of 2001 and her healing services in the fall of 2007. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she now lives in Vermont on forested wild land with her family. Rain holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with special studies in Biofeedback and Somatics as well as a Master’s degree in East West Psychology with a Certificate in Expressive Arts Consulting and Education. She is trained in Hand in Hand Parenting by Connection (to support children, parents, and families) and The Gottman Method (to support couples and all kinds of relationships with evidence based communication skills). Both approaches are trauma informed, and along with studies of psychophysiology and neuroscience, Rain values using all of these skills in her work to help the healing of trauma happen mindfully, therapeutically, and compassionately. Rain was also a bodyworker for two decades and developed her own approach called Emotional Integrative Bodywork which honored the four pillars of the human experience: body, mind, heart, and spirit. She now has a weekly podcast, Every Moment Is Sacred, which interweaves healing and meditation into everyday life.
