Manage episode 407504647 series 3561372
In this episode I speak with local artist Ted Moore about his current exhibit at Gallery at 11th Street Station. The show is titled Ec(h)o and features artwork inspired by landscape, culture and the history of the Southwest where we live. Ted uses wood panels, gold leaf and ink paint to create these unique and stunning pieces, a result of observation and meditative attention to detail. He references Medieval iconography creating hand-crafted frames, triptychs and reliquaries honoring the mundane and the transcendental and their relationship to the natural world. The main focus of the art is on trees and wood which measure the passage of time and and seasons of life. Ted has an MA and Phd in Medieval studies from the University of Toronto, Canada and recently completed his MFA at the Maine College of Art and Design in Portland, Maine. In addition to all of this Ted is a professional musician and drum teacher at iAM Music Institute in Durango. He has shown his work at the Arvada Center in Colorado and is represented by SPACE Gallery in Denver where he will be having a show in the fall of 2024. Ted is based outside of Durango in Hesperus, Colorado where he has his studio. The current exhibit at 11th Street Gallery runs through January 5th, 2024, make sure not to miss it!
