You are too fat to be seen here…. As an industry (and the world), we’ve made efforts to be more inclusive. Learning how to work with different hair textures and skin tones, understanding and respecting other cultures… and although we still have a way to go, there’s one area of inclusion that we’ve left behind… weight. How would you feel if one of your therapists, said this to a client? What sort of culture do you have in your Salon where your team thinks it's okay to say that to someone? Their comments might not be that obvious, by prejudiced comments around weight get made every single day, in just about every Salon. Inclusion and diversity workshops and training sessions aren’t really the norm. But it’s time we start having those conversations with our team so that every client feels welcomed. I wanted to share with you the importance of inclusion and diversity in your Salon and how you can have those important conversations with your team.

In today’s episode, I’m chatting to Sky McLaughlin from Larger Luxury to talk about the Beauty Bias: Is Your Salon ACTUALLY Inclusive?

Here is why you should listen to the full episode:
  1. Learn what inclusion looks like in a Salon
  2. Understand why it’s important to train your team on the topic of inclusion and diversity
  3. Know how to have those (sometimes uncomfortable) conversations with your team
