In this week’s episode, the fabulous Paul Ward is back for Part 2 of our conversation.

Paul Ward - who goes by Great Kraken on social platforms - is a 43 year old Irishman who has gone through divorce and has used this experience to become an advocate for the importance of solo dating & men's mental health, challenging society's obsession with romantic relationships. Paul is a firm believer that the most important relationship is with yourself, and that peace and contentment are the true keys to happiness. He also has his own podcast, Kraken’s Cabin.
Topics that Paul & I cover are:

  • those people who are desperate to be in a relationship;
  • loneliness, and how it can be exacerbated by being around other couples;
  • why single people should connect with the things that they used to love, but gave up in relationships;
  • why we need to step away from friendships and other relationships that are no longer benefitting us;
  • online dating, and how dating apps have devolved into something that destroys self-esteem;
  • why dating apps are a full-time job, and why Paul uninstalled them;
  • how there are many single people out there who are enjoying their lives;
  • how the older we get, the more discerning we become when it comes to dating;
  • other people’s kids with regards dating;
  • sex and being single;
  • Paul’s experience of not having sex for 7 years;
  • how it’s more than possible to be friends with someone you’ve had bad sex with;
  • Paul’s advice for when you get caught in a spiral of loneliness, or horny-ness!
  • the reactions of Paul’s family and friends following his divorce;
  • people who go from one relationship to the next without ever healing;
  • why it’s important to be patient when grieving the end of a relationship;
  • why it’s important to make an effort on a solo date.
