Manage episode 418686823 series 3454412
A former high school football player, Eagle Scout, Marine and power lifter, just 3 weeks after receiving the Officer of the Year award for his police department in 2003, Kevin Trees suffered a life changing crash that left him for dead on the side of a country road. After two and a half years of not walking and ultimately losing his right leg above the knee in his 34th surgery, Kevin returned to his career as a police officer. Since his return, he has flown with his department's air unit as a crew member, worked homicides as a detective featured on A&E's First48 season 10 (episode 145 only highlighting his work) and now works as a police sergeant. His past and present experiences inspired him to write a book titled, The Serious Business of Laughing at Life which is available at most major book vendors, and he played the role of a cop in a film-festival featured movie by Xachery Irving, Nothing Without You. He can also been seen in Otto Bock publications, web pages and short videos on You tube. In addition to that, he coaches little league football and does motivational speeches about never giving up. He also mentors new amputees that are struggling to come to terms with their own injuries. In his free time he works on his 1968 Camaro, writes and records original music, enjoys photography and paints. Feel free to reach out to him if he can ever be of assistance. I just want to help anyone I can.
