Manage episode 421365861 series 3350893
Fresh off his appearance in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, Conor Daly joins co-host Chase Holden to fill listeners in on his star-studded adventures. The tale began last Thursday night, when Conor gave a ride to Indiana Pacers standout Tyrese Haliburton in the IndyCar two-seater in downtown Indianapolis. Conor gives a detailed breakdown of how the Friday night exhibition game unfolded and the rest of the weekend's activities. He and Chase also discuss the latest in the IndyCar injury report, the decision to move the season finale race to Nashville Superspeedway and the chaos that unfolded at Daytona.
Three-time IMSA Champion and 2021 Indianapolis 500 winning car owner Michael Shank joined the show to discuss his path to becoming one of the most prominent team leader’s in the last few years. After making a go at driving himself, Shank began fielding cars for up and coming drivers in the Formula Atlantic Series, where he helped eventual three-time IndyCar Champion Sam Hornish Jr. up the racing ladder. Michael explained that around 2001 he was ready to give up on motorsports altogether, when a meeting with Jim France helped steer him into the world of sports car racing. In 2004, Michael Shank Racing entered the Grand-Am ranks in the Daytona Prototype Class, and in the last twenty years has gone on to win the Rolex 24 three-times, as well as IMSA crowns in the prototype and GT Daytona classes. Michael also details how he found himself in the IndyCar paddock, where he helped Helio Castroneves find his fourth Borg Warner Trophy and is set to take on the 2024 season with a fleet of two cars.
