Welcome to today’s edition of Wake Up Sydney! Tune in as your host, Johnny Rocket, brings you the need-to-know on weather, traffic, and trains for Friday, June 7, 2024.
Weather Update: Sydney is blanketed in drizzle today with chilly winds making the temperatures, hovering around 13.6°C in the CBD, feel even colder. Similar conditions span across Parramatta and Bondi with showers expected to persist throughout the day.
Traffic News: Travelling in Sydney? Stay informed about current road situations. A vehicle breakdown on Wattle Street in Haberfield is complicating the usual morning traffic flow with lane closures in effect. Also, a notable accident involving two trucks on Centenary Drive near the Hume Highway in Strathfield is causing hefty southbound traffic delays. Commuters are advised to seek alternative routes or allow extra travel time.
Train Service Alerts: Attention, train commuters! Due to ongoing effects from the Women’s State of Origin, expect replacement buses between Newcastle Interchange and Gosford. Additionally, heavy rainfall has led to the suspension of train services between Wollongong and Port Kembla, as well as between Waterfall and Thirroul. Unfortunately, no replacement buses are available for these routes.
Despite the wet weather and transportation challenges, Johnny Rocket encourages all listeners to keep their spirits high and have a positive start to the day. Stay dry, safe, and informed with Wake Up Sydney!
