Every so often we like to dig deep into our archives and show our newer listeners that we were promoting country music years ago even though we were operating under a different format. This one from Independence Day Weekend 2005. Our format was mostly music from The Golden Age of radio. We hope you enjoy this look into our beginnings of our internet broadcast. As mentioned previously, we always included country music throughout our various formats. Bing Crosby does a cover of "Y'All Come" done many times by country singer Porter Wagoner. Listen for Jimmy Yves Newman (August 29, 1927 – June 21, 2014), better known as Jimmy C. Newman (the C stands for Cajun), he was an American country music and cajun singer-songwriter and long-time star of the Grand Ole Opry. Dave mentions him and his wife saw Jimmy C. Newman perform at The Grand Ole Opry in the past. Jimmy sings “Alligator Man”. Performing live here is Patsy Cline and “Tennessee Waltz”. Those familiar with our broadcast will remember our “Who Sings it Better” segments! This is a predecessor of that segment. We begin with Eydie Gormé singing Toot, Toot, Tootsie goodbye. The song is so bad, Dave's listeners said to turn it off. Dave plays the famous version by Al Jolson. Special Note: Most of the E-Mail, chat room, and web sites mentioned no longer exist. Your best bet to keep in contact with Pioneers Of Country is on Pod-O-Matic or on our Facebook Page. You can now follow Pioneers of Country on Spotify!
