When is Enough...Enough?
Manage episode 427899627 series 2285934
Covetousness, Contentment, Thanksgiving... it is always a struggle to maintain our hearts, especially in such a consumer culture. But God speaks to us even today... clearly about this sin He calls "Idolatry" and gives us guidance to a life of grateful contentment.
Sermons Archive RSSColossians 1:28 Him we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.
Philippians 4:11-13 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
1 Timothy 4:3-5 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Luke 3:10-11 So the people asked him, saying, “What shall we do then?” 11 He answered and said to them, “He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.”
