As a society, our health outcomes are worsening each year, both physically and mentally. Blaming individuals for poor health choices misses the mark—our societal approach to health and wellbeing must change. Moving away from reactive symptom management towards proactive prevention is essential.
The Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD), the world’s largest health study, identifies the top six risk factors driving mortality and morbidity: tobacco use, high blood sugar, high BMI, dietary risks, high blood pressure, and alcohol use. All of these are preventable through lifestyle changes. Imagine a future where health-enhancing behaviours like regular sleep patterns, eating unprocessed foods, and physical activity are standard parts of daily life.
A 2023 report shows that the average UK adult spends 161 minutes daily on their smartphone. Redirecting just 30 minutes of this time towards Preventative Wellness habits could revolutionize societal health.
Join us as we discuss the importance of preventative health with Jonathan Pittam, Preventative Wellness Educator/Coach, and explore how we can create a healthier future.
