Terry Hastings enjoys what he does even if it "annoys" the censorship of social media. He discovered photography after years in the theater and performing arts. After moving in the Fall of 2009 to Palm Springs from Minneapolis Terry was immediately taken with his surroundings both geographical and societal. He found this place to be a dichotomy of people: one set basking in a verdant oasis and the other set struggling in a city that was barren and dry.

Terry's first geographic adventure was to the sand dunes just north of Palm Springs. He used this as the backdrop for his Earth, Wind, Fire & Water series. But his forte is the depiction of male beauty in various photographic techniques. Using nude and clothed models Terry creates images that celebrate the human form. His work is often deemed controversial because of his use of nudes. But the question lingers why are male nudes more obectional than female? Why is the nude, a form that has been the subject of art for centuries, such a lightning rod for platforms such as Facebook and X?

In his Nude Food Series Terry noted that "(T)he "nude" is often weaponized as lewd and distasteful. I wanted to make it tasty and more importantly, fun. I am taking the stigma out of nudity by adding a sense of whimsy." In his interview, Terry continues the discussion of the double standard that exists when art and nude collide.

He presented his works before in the Palms Springs Art Museum, as well as other exhibitions in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, and Tampa.
