The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament
“One great challenge for any congregation is to insist that the Spirit in its midst is truly the Old Testament Spirit of the God of Israel, not the spirit of happy times and crowd dynamics.” Pg. 13 Prompt: Why do think this is a challenge?
THE SPIRIT OF GOD WAS PRESENT AT CREATION Pg. 14
He was involved in two ways: in the ecology and theology of creation.
1. Ecology. A Christian view of ecology must start with Genesis 1, where the Spirit of God was present in the darkest, bleakest of all places
2. Theology. The Spirit of God was present in and above creation.

5. The Spirit in all Old Testament believers. (Pg. 23)
“In conclusion, then, we can say that while the Holy Spirit indwelt all Old Testament believers, their experience of the Holy Spirit was usually limited to a degree of personal filling, but they were rarely fully filled, and even more rarely did they overflow to others in witness, evangelism, and mission. That filling full
and overflowing awaited the apex of the person and work of Christ, when the Holy Spirit was poured out on Him without measure and on His church in an overflowing way.” Pg. 24
