It's here, our final episode of our trip through WCW 1996. Episode 30 is this Friday and as per usual ACEFIELD RETRO returns with MIKE BELCASTER to discuss two jam-packed episodes. We take on STARRCADE 1996 and DEC 30th MONDAY NITRO to tie a bow on WCW's bow out of the year 1996 and move into 1997. What will be the lasting image we are left with in the Nitro following Starrcade? Why was the WCW World Title not on the line in Hogan vs. Piper? We will crown our new UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP in the finals at STARRCADE and also our tournament to decide the WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP will also conclude. A tourney that started on Nitro and never made an appearance outside of the first round. If you missed it, so did we. It happen all on WCW's SATURDAY B level shows. The floodgates have opened for nWo members to join the faction. Has it officially gone too far? Did they oversaturate the storyline? One last time with spirit, we do some digging into Dave Meltzer’s newsletter as it happened in real-time to bring in CONTEXT and help us travel completely back to 1996 to get an idea of what this event meant to WCW’s drive to overtake WWF in the MONDAY NIGHT WARS. What was the rating like? Is there more drama to unpack? As always, this episode is sure to be an amazing time with the main homie MIKE BELCASTER. It's the last one so don't miss it. Don’t forget to grab your weekly Shot of Nostalgia at 7 PM Eastern to continue FLASHBACK FRIDAY ON THE TAVERN. As always, tip your bartenders & learn from the past!
