　佛羅倫斯在1494年成立共和國後，新政府決定在維奇歐宮增設一個能容納五百人的議會大廳。1500年，大部分的建築工程完成，政府決定邀請藝術界的重量級大師來為大廳繪畫壁畫，以展現共和國的光榮歷史。首先被邀請的是達文西。他被委託以壁畫再現1394年的「安加里之戰」。達文西以其精湛的藝術技巧和創新的繪畫技法，開始了這項艱巨的工程。幾個月後，政府又邀請了年輕的藝術新星米開朗基羅，他則被委以繪製另一面牆壁，描繪1440年佛羅倫斯戰勝比薩的「卡西納戰役」。兩位巨匠的對決不僅僅是藝術技巧的較量...
