She is the Executive Director at Defense of Democracy, whose mission is:
Defense of Democracy to educate the public about the value of inclusivity and the importance of emotional and physical safety for all individuals within the American public-school and library systems.
We support educators who present historically and scientifically accurate information, and encourage initiatives that enhance Americans’ shared experiences regardless of race, color, national origin, language, gender, sexual orientation, sexual identity, religion, or ability.
In this episode I interview Karen Svoboda, the Executive Director of Defense of Democracy, a National ,non-partisan, non-profit that is committed to educating the public about the value of inclusivity and the importance of emotional and physical safety for all individuals within the American public school and library systems. She talks about her childhood, a mom and dad who had very different political beliefs and how she continues to believe that we can be on opposite sides and be good people.
