包拯，廬州合肥縣人，生於宋真宗咸平二年，即公元999年。包拯家族是宋初通過科舉考試進入仕途的農村庶民。 自從在公元960年宋太祖趙匡胤借陳橋兵變，取代後周，建立宋朝之後，朝廷軍政大權改由文官掌管，中央派遣文官治理地方府、州、縣。這就是歷史教科書上所說的「重文輕武」政策。 宋真宗曾經撰寫過一首《勸學詩》，其中「書中自有黃金屋，書中自有顏如玉」成為勉勵士子努力讀書的名句。民間也有詩句云：「天子重賢豪，文章教爾曹，萬般皆下品 ，唯有讀書高」。可見當時民間讀書風氣之盛。包拯二十八歲時，考中...
