Hey Fellow Dads,

Are the struggles of life and the decline of society getting you and your family down? About 2500 years ago, a group of men in similarly troubled circumstances once led their families to rejoice in God——and we can still learn from their example. Today’s episode discusses how they did it and what books we might use to help our families on our journey to joy.

Show Notes
  • Please excuse the grammatical error (I should have said “Would their wives and children have rejoiced . . . ”) I couldn’t correct it with the same voice now that my cold is getting better. 😁
  • I stated that I wouldn’t mention biography titles in the recording—but they (along with other book titles) are given below, so be sure to keep reading!
Scriptures
  • Ephesians 5:20
    Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

  • Philippians 4:4
    Rejoice in the Lord alway: [and] again I say, Rejoice.

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:18
    In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

  • Nehemiah 12:40-43

    40 ¶ So stood the two companies of them that gave thanks in the house of God, and I, and the half of the rulers with me:

    41 And the priests; Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets;

    42 And Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer.

    43 ¶ Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced: for God had made them rejoice with great joy: the wives also and the children rejoiced: so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off.
