L.Ivory, a pillar of Dublin’s queer scene and founder of NSFW, steps up to the 244th Local Selection Mix. Ivory’s 90s-inspired set includes Baleric-brushed grooves, UK rave, smokey Panorama Bar style cuts and more for an hour of dancefloor pleasure. Best known for his party NSFW, the Dublin native established the forward-thinking queer party series in January 2022 to promote marginalised LQBTQ+ talent in his hometown. It’s hard to believe the party has been going on for two and a half years, leaving its mark on the Dublin landscape and gaining a cult following thanks to its utopian vibe, free of judgement and promoting pure freedom of expression. L. Ivory‘s work in Dublin club culture extends beyond NSFW; he is also promoting shows under a new brand, SissHut, in Yamamori Tengu. His NSFW radio show on Dublin Digital Radio, a community-driven station, has provided a platform for emerging talent while also allowing the NSFW boss to showcase his diverse musical tastes. The Dublin-based artist has also been making his mark across Ireland’s festival circuit, frequently appearing across some of the Isle’s most coveted stages at Electric Picnic, All Together Now, Otherside and Life Festival. He has also shared the booth with various esteemed artists including Traumer, Dungeon Meat, Spray, IN2STELLAR, Doudou Md, and many more. Ivory’s contribution to the Local Selection Mix series is a smooth ride through his refined mix of dancefloor-ready tracks, delicately merging contrasting tools into a smooth-sailing adventure that is as surprising as it is coherent. A good DJ mix can be often defined by depth, and L.Ivory’s mix is nothing short of tunnelling deeper and deeper as it advances from hypnotising prog rollers to trance-kissed anthems, reducing acid lines, vintage Dublin rave classics, and more. This is a true DJ at work; each mix is well-thought-out but not overly premeditated, allowing for plenty of twists and turns.
