Hour 1 - Mike Hughes is in the pole position for the second cornerback spot

On this Thursday edition of The Morning Shift, Emmy award winning sports Reporter, Anchor, and Host, Maria Martin, Mike Johnson, and Beau Morgan recap what they did yesterday, and then let you hear Atlanta Falcons General Manager Terry Fontenot talk about where he thinks the team has improved the most this offseason besides quarterback. Maria, Mike, and Beau react to what Fontenot had to say as well. Next, The Morning Shift crew continued the opening hour by letting you hear Atlanta Falcons cornerback Mike Hughes talk about the biggest difference between playing outside corner and nickel. Maria, Mike, and Beau react to what Hughes had to say as well. The Morning Shift crew also lets you hear Atlanta Falcons Defensive Coordinator Jimmy Lake talk about Mike Hughes, and how he’s earned the other starting cornerback spot opposite AJ Terrell so far during camp. Maria, Mike, and Beau close out the segment by reacting to the Atlanta Braves winning their three game series against the Milwaukee Brewers after getting a 6-2 win over the Brewers yesterday thanks to Matt Olson and Travis d’Arnaud hitting back-to-back home runs twice, and Chris Sale having another good outing despite not having his best stuff yesterday. The Morning Shift crew also lets you hear Travis d’Arnaud talk about going back-to-back twice with Matt Olson yesterday, and react to what d’Arnaud had to say as well. Finally, Maria, Mike, and Beau close out the opening hour by letting you hear Atlanta Falcons General Manager Terry Fontenot talk about how the team’s goal isn't focused on the amount of wins the team has or playoffs as much as wanting fans to be truly proud of them when watching the team play. Maria, Mike, and Beay reacted to what Fontenot had to say as well. Finally, Maria, Mike and Beau close out the segment by reacting to Katie Ledecky dominating the Women’s 1500 meters final, and winning yet another gold medal. The Morning Shift crew also reacts to the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team getting a 2-1 win over Australia to win their group and lock in a quarterfinal match with Japan, and the U.S. Men’s National Basketball team getting a dominating 103-86 win over South Sudan.
