The sixth annual Durango Playfest begins Tuesday June 25th and runs through Sunday June 30, 2024. Join me for a conversation with Felicia Meyer, the Artistic Director of Playfest and producer of the annual event. She is also the Associate Professor at the Theatre Department at Fort Lewis College in Durango which partners with Playfest. Also joining me is New York Playwright Richard Dresser who will be workshopping his new play All that Remains at this years event. Richard’s play Our Shrinking, Shrinking World premiered at Playfest’s 2022 festival and then went on to a full, production at the New Jersey Repertory Theatre. Many of his other plays have been produced in New York, regional theatre and Europe. Richard has also worked extensively in film and television and has published a number of novels including It Happened Here. He teaches screenwriting at the Columbia University Film School and is president and a founding member of the Writer’s Guild Initiative giving voice to populations not being heard including veterans, Wounded Warriors, caregivers and many others. This years Playfest will highlight the work of four professional playwrights from New York and LA including professional directors and actors performing eleven script readings.
