The Democratic National Committee said Vice President Kamala Harris earned enough votes from delegates to secure the party’s nomination for president Friday. This came while her campaign announced that it raised $310 million last month.

In a change of course, the Secret Service said that local police in Pennsylvania should not be held responsible for security failures during the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. New acting director Ronald Rowe characterized these oversights as “a failure” of his agency.

The Justice Department sued TikTok, accusing the company of violating a children’s online privacy law. The government said the social media platform failed to obtain parental consent to collect personal information from users under age 13.

The Biden administration officially recognized Venezuela’s opposition candidate Edmundo González as the winner of the presidential election. The State Department said the Venezuelan National Electoral Council’s declaration of socialist President Nicolás Maduro as the winner came with no supporting evidence.
