08 Costa Rica An Unlikely Success Story With Glenn Jampol
Manage episode 432931316 series 3579445
Despite its small size – 0.03% of the world’s landmass – Costa Rica hosts an incredible 6% of the world’s biodiversity, but it wasn’t always headed in this direction... In fact, at one point Costa Rica had one of the highest deforestation rates in the world!
To better understand how Costa Rica became a success story - returning its ravaged land back to health - we go back in time with the help of my knowledgeable guest who knows the story better than most.
My guest today is Glenn Jampol, an author, organic coffee farmer, public speaker, and proud owner of Finca Rosa Blanca (named by National Geographic as one of the unique lodges of the world).
What you'll learn in this episode:
- How Costa Rica reversed deforestation and became a leader in ecotourism
- How the CST (Certification for Sustainable Tourism) in Costa Rica came into being
- The secret to Costa Rica's thriving success in ecotourism
- How Glenn's organic coffee farm reconnects guests to the one thing we do everyday
