In this intro podcast, I talk about my journey from being a sexual mute to a sex talk enthusiast. I explore how my background as an adopted child, catholic teacher and unknowingly becoming a partner of a sex & porn addict* led to both breakdown and liberation.
I explore bridging a communication gap by talking openly about TABOO subjects, particularly sex and porn.
I reflect on how talking TABOO is now not only my hobby but my profession as a Relationship Therapist & Sex Talk Educator.
This episode touches on my philosophy around sex & sexuality.
This podcast will be useful for partners, parents and professionals.
For partners, I have found that open conversations about sex improves personal and sexual relationships and creates high levels of INTIMACY.
For parents, informed sex talk creates SAFETY for your child or children as predators thrive due to lack of sexual communication. The growth of the porn industry and the accessibility of porn on devices has been a contributory factor for the development of predators, sexual dysfunctions and relationship disharmony. I have lived and learnt experience of this.
For professionals in all areas -education, care sector and counselling, there is a lack of training and expertise in having a safe, non-judgemental curious led Sex Talk conversation. Even if children (or young adults) want to talk about sex or a sexual experience they don’t feel comfortable about, most professionals are not competent to hold a safe space for curious exploration. There are many understandable barriers that cause this and competent Sex Talk is one key bridge.
My invitation ~ Get curious with the CRINGE! This creates personal & relational growth, heals sexual trauma and offers high levels of protection for children, young or vulnerable adults.
This podcast is dedicated to my birth mother Maura. 💖
