Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office announced Wednesday that it found the State Fair of Texas’ new gun policy violates Texas law and threatened to sue the city of Dallas if the policy is not fixed in 15 days; also, the city of Dallas is going to pay what will likely be hundreds of thousands of dollars to a police officer that the department had accused of capital murder. Bryan Riser, a former patrol officer, was accused by his department of ordering the 2017 killings of Liza Saenz and Albert Douglas. But a bungled police investigation led to the charges being dismissed — and Riser’s appeal to win back his job; in other news, longtime Dallas radio icon Norm Hitzges signed off in June of 2023, and in what may be an unsurprising development to those who listened to him over his 48-year career: He still hasn’t stopped working.
