From the BG Ad Group Studio this is your news minute on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast presented by Credit Union of Georgia. Today is Friday, August 16th, and I'm Peyton Spurlock.

Kennesaw State’s Economic Impact $2.15 billion

Kennesaw State University has made a significant economic impact in metro Atlanta, reaching over $2 billion in 2023, according to a recent report by the University System of Georgia. This marks a 5.6% increase from the previous year's $2.03 billion.

Of this impact, $1.3 billion came from KSU's personnel and operating expenses, along with student-related spending. The remaining $841 million resulted from purchases made by the university, its employees, and students within the community.

KSU President Kathy Schwaig [shv-eye-g ] highlighted the university's role in fostering economic growth and community partnerships across Georgia. Additionally, KSU's employment impact included almost 16,000 jobs, both on and off campus.

The report also noted that bachelor's graduates from Georgia’s public universities in 2023 will earn $1.4 million more over their lifetimes compared to those without a degree.
