Which areas does Florida State hold the biggest advantage over Georgia Tech? Here are my top areas to watch for when the Seminoles play the Yellow Jackets on Aug. 24 at noon EST.

  1. Running the football: Florida State’s OL/RB/TE vs Georgia Tech’s front seven.
  2. FSU’s special teams are tremendous, with kicker Ryan Fitzgerald and punt Alex Mastromanno leading the way, they could set the tone for field position and play calling.
  3. The Seminoles’ pass rush versus Georgia Tech’s offensive line.
  4. Florida State’s WR speed vs Georgia Tech’s secondary in man-to-man situations.
  5. FSU’s red zone offense vs GT’s base, nickel, dime, or goal line defense.
  6. Florida State’s short-yardage rushing attack will create matchup issues for GT.
  7. FSU’s ability to grind out drives, eating up the clock, and still adding to its lead over GT; watch out for play-action after the run game is rolling.
  8. The Noles’ secondary, especially because of its depth, holds a slight edge over a talented Georgia Tech wide receiver corps.
