Welcome back to SHPE Out Loud, the podcast dedicated to amplifying the voices of Hispanics in STEM. In this milestone 30th episode of our "50 Stories for 50 Years" series, producer Alex Wait introduces us to Ernesto "Ernie" Felix, the Chief of Staff & Human Resources at SHPE.

Ernie has been part of SHPE for over two decades, bringing a wealth of experience and insight from his extensive career in the tech and financial sectors. Despite not being an engineer, Ernie has made significant contributions to the STEM industry, particularly through his expertise in corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Raised in the border town of Nogales, Arizona, Ernie's journey took a pivotal turn when he attended Arizona State University, where he first encountered the challenges of being considered a "minority." This experience prompted a deep exploration of identity and belonging, shaping his professional and personal life.

With a Bachelor of Science in Management and Economics, Ernie embarked on a remarkable 27-year career at Intel Corporation, earning recognition as a thought leader in diversity, large-scale program management, leadership development, and human resources management.

In this episode, Ernie shares how his involvement with SHPE has profoundly influenced his career and sense of self. Join us as we listen to Ernesto Felix speak out loud and explore the non-engineering perspective he brings to SHPE.
