Australia's ambassador to Iran was summoned by the Iranian government for an Instagram post supporting "Wear It Purple Day".

An Iranian diplomat called the post "insulting" in that it "promoted homosexuality", which is a crime in Iran.

It comes a month after Iran's ambassador to Australia was called before the Australian government for comments about Palestine.
