Hey there beachgoers, let's catch the wave on the latest surf zone forecast for New York! Hang ten with this update from the National Weather Service in New York on this fine Sunday, September 29, 2024.
Starting off with Kings (Brooklyn), we have a high risk of rip currents until 6 PM this evening, so surf cautiously. The waves are around 3 feet high, and the surf temperature is in the upper 60s. It's a bit cloudy with a chance of rain, so keep an eye on the skies. The UV Index is low, and the high temperature will be in the upper 60s with winds coming from the east around 15 mph.
Moving over to Southern Queens, including the beautiful Jacob Riis Park and Rockaway Beach, the conditions are similar with a high risk of rip currents, 3-foot waves, and upper 60s surf temperature. The winds here are a bit stronger at 15 to 20 mph from the east.
Now, for Southern Nassau, covering Atlantic Beach, Long Beach, Lido Beach, and Jones Beach, the story repeats with high rip current risk, 3-foot waves, and upper 60s surf temperature. Winds are coming from the east at 15 to 20 mph. Keep your eyes peeled for a chance of rain.
Traveling further out to Southwestern Suffolk with beaches like Gilgo State Park and Robert Moses State Park, we're still facing a high rip current risk, 3-foot waves, and upper 60s surf temperature. The weather remains cloudy with a chance of rain, and the high temperature will be in the mid 60s with winds blowing from the east at 20 mph.
Lastly, Southeastern Suffolk, home to spots like Smith Point and Cupsogue Beach, experiences a high rip current risk, around 4-foot waves, and mid 60s surf temperature. The weather will be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, and the high temperature will be in the upper 60s with east winds around 15 mph.
Remember, keep an eye out for those rip currents, bring a flotation device, and stay near a lifeguard. If you're caught in a rip current, relax, float, and don't swim against it. Swim parallel to the shore if you can. Safety first out there on the waves!
And that's a wrap for your New York surf zone forecast. Stay safe, catch some awesome waves, and enjoy the beach vibes. Until next time, hang loose and catch you on the flip side!
