Rosa Parks, 1913–2005, amerikansk medborgarrättsförkämpe. Den 1?december 1955 vägrade sömmerskan Parks att lämna sin plats till en vit man i bussen i den starkt segregerade staden Montgomery i Alabama, varvid hon arresterades och bötfälldes. Hennes vägran blev starten för en omfattande bojkott av stadens bussar från den svarta befolkningen under ledning av en då ung och okänd baptistpastor vid namn Martin Luther King Jr.
