I was originally introduced to Banu Ozkazanc-Pan, Ph.D after someone forwarded me her recent article, Support Organizations and Remediating the Gender Gap in Entrepreneurial Ecosystems: A Case Study of St. Louis. The research is exactly what I have been looking to do in the Phoenix ecosystem, so I excitedly reach out on LinkedIn and sent out several emails asking for an introduction. Banu responded quickly and we instantly bonded over our love of research, female entrepreneurship and gender diversity. She has been a great connection sharing the latest research, what she is seeing in the rapidly evolving field of entrepreneurship and her experience with the WE Bos an emerging city model for entrepreneurial development. I am so excited we got her on the show.

Listen to our conversation, check out her research and make sure to connect with her podcast. Below is her bio and the details.

Banu Ozkazanc-Pan is an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Massachusetts and currently a Kauffman Foundation-grantee studying the opportunities and challenges for women entrepreneurs in the St. Louis and Boston ecosystems. As part of this research effort, she is collaborating with the Cit of Boston to inform policymakers about the challenges for women entrepreneurs in hopes of putting together effective policies to impact change. Her broader research interests include understanding the various mechanisms and structures that prevent certain groups from participating fully in organizations and society.
