On this Labor Day weekend, we celebrate a Labor of Love that is normally not celebrated. But, we find that without it there is chaos, fracture, and many other unintended consequences. Jeremiah 18:1-11 give a picture of something our culture has become confused about. Through combining this "labor of love" with other biblical terms and twisting those to other meanings, we have lost one of the most needed gifts of love we can seek out from God and from fellow Christians: judgment. Not condemnation or punishment, but that "watching over another in love" that we need to see the wrong things in us and our society that we are often blind to.
