Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. He joined Caroline in 1977, touring the country with the Caroline Roadshow for 10 years, having great fun. Barry helped with tender trips and worked on the Ross Revenge in '84 and '85. ...

May 9, 2017 This is our one-hundredth Coffeeshop Conversation. We started with Mary Sue Tobin on December 4, 2014 and with the obvious exception of a few weeks, we’ve been right here at World Cup Coffee and Tea, NW 18th and Glisan for each one. We’ll have Mary Sue back soon, but I’ve asked filmmaker Beth Harrington to return because she was a great guest early on, and also because she’s working on a major new project called The Musicianer involving a guy named Petunia. Her last film, The Winding Stream on the Carter Family was a major success and resides currently on Netflix, after Beth toured the country with it after its premiere three years ago. No, I don’t know what a “musicianer” is either. So we’ll find out straight away. And perhaps a glimpse at who this Petunia fellow is and what he’s about.
