The U.S. Department of Energy reports the typical American family spends at least $2,000 a year on utility bills. K-State Research and Extension family resource management specialist Elizabeth Kiss says replacing a manual or programmable thermostat with a “smart” thermostat is just one of the steps we can take to reduce energy costs – without sacrificing comfort.
